Yee-haw! Waffles! Have a nice day!

If you’re a film fan, it probably wouldn’t take you long to compile your list of favourite American road trip movies. It might include Jack Nicholson in Five Easy Pieces, Thelma and Louise in their 1966 Ford Thunderbird convertible, and Little Miss Sunshine in her VW bus. Then there were the wine-tasting buddies in Sideways and even the fun of The Cannonball Run. We'll leave you to add more of your own...

There is a point to all this. Recently, our partners Neil and Ian escaped from our Thompson & Smith home of quality used cars for sale here at Louth in Lincolnshire. Their destination? The Lone Star State of Texas. Keeping with the movie theme, it’s the home of many ‘cowboys and cattle’ movies, and our pair of good ol' boys had the task of organising their own ‘round-up’ of stunning classic and vintage American cars – and then ‘herding’ them back to the UK.

Well, the boys did real good! It’s exciting to know that, among the amazing models you'll soon be able to choose from here at Louth in the rolling grasslands of Lincolnshire, is an astonishing Beck Porsche 550 Spyder Recreation, or a light ivory Mercedes 230 SL Pagoda – which really has had only one lady owner!

Neil and Ian also visited the famous Gas Monkey Garage in Dallas where they met the very quiet and laid-back (or not) guys who star in hit US TV series Fast N’ Loud. If you haven't yet caught their show, you'll find it on the various Discovery channels on a very regular basis! They also have their own brand of tequila – which, of course, our boys certainly didn’t sample (probably).
