Top total from our coffee morning
Thanks to great local Lincolnshire support again this year, we at Thompson & Smith Ltd have been able do our bit for a wonderful charity that helps cancer sufferers throughout the UK. For the past three years we've been holding a ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support at our showroom in Louth, where we specialise in selling used Vauxhalls, but also stock many other models. The coffee mornings are held up and down the country on the same day every year, to raise funds for this important charity.
This year we held our coffee morning on Friday, 29th September and we were inundated with delicious cakes made by our staff and customers. A special mention here must go to Dot Clark, who always makes us masses of wonderful cakes that everyone enjoys! On the day, we held a raffle of a £200 Halfords voucher and provided refreshments for everyone who came along to support the event. In total, we raised an impressive £582! It is always lovely to see our regular customers and when we are raising money for a worthy cause it’s even better!
The idea for a nationwide event to raise money to support people with cancer began in 1990. The simple concept was to hold a coffee morning where people could meet up and donate the cost of their coffee to Macmillan. The concept proved to be so popular that it has been an annual event ever since, and has raised over £113 million so far. At Thompson & Smith Ltd, we’re happy that with the help of our customers, we’ve managed to contribute to the work that Macmillan does up and down the country. We want to thank everyone who supported us and if you would like to see some photos of the day, see our Facebook page or Twitter feed.
