Check your vehicle out this spring

With winter behind us and the much more enjoyable spring and summer months to come, you're probably planning on getting out in the open air in your car and doing some sightseeing or holidaying. Before you do that, make sure your vehicle is safe to drive.

Here are the things we think you need to check ahead of the spring to guarantee your motor is fit for the warmer months.

Check the wipers

Your windscreen will have been hit with all sorts of grime and chemicals throughout the winter months and it almost goes without saying that your wipers are used the most during that time of the year. Check they are still functioning correctly and if you need to then replace them.

Assess the battery

Another part of a vehicle which takes a pounding during the winter is the battery. Starting a freezing cold engine often takes a lot more battery power than one which is naturally warmer in the summer months, so give your battery a check and make sure it isn’t close to going flat. Replace it if it is.

Look at the tyres

Tyre pressure can differ depending on the temperature, so it's likely that the pressure in your tyres will need adjusting when the warmer weather comes along. Make sure you give your tyres a thorough checking.

Refill the tank

You are likely to get through a lot more fuel in the spring and summer time because of the longer distances you may drive for days out and going on breaks and holidays. Always ensure there is enough fuel in the tank for those journeys. Roads can often be busier in the warmer months with holiday traffic, so ensure you have enough fuel in case you get stuck in any delays or stoppages.
